Agromartín: A partnership with purpose!

Agromartín has been our exclusive partner for many years, supplying us with stone fruit and strawberries. This includes the “Candela” and “Early Super Sweet” varieties, which are produced exclusively for us. Based in southern Spain, this family-run company not only produces high-quality fruit, but also excels in innovative, sustainable agriculture and social responsibility.

Exclusive partner for many years

Agromartín has been an official member of our Exclusive Partner Programme for many years. The family-run company based in Huelva, southern Spain, right on the border with Portugal, has stood for quality, innovation and deeply rooted values for over 40 years. The competitive advantage: With over 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, the Huelva region offers ideal conditions for growing strawberries and stone fruit, making Agromartín one of the earliest producers of stone fruit in the northern hemisphere.

Close cooperation

The partnership with Agromartín is characterized by trust and common goals, which has also led to the development of a deep friendship. All those responsible are in contact with each other several times a day. This allows processes to be continuously improved and corrective measures to be coordinated.

Exclusive varieties with added value

Agromartín produces two exclusive products for Port International:

  • Strawberry “Candela”
  • Nectarine “Early Super Sweet”, an early yellow nectarine variety.

The Candela variety was created a few years ago in Agromartín’s own research and development department. Its production starts as early as December, which extends the season and allows fresh strawberries to be available earlier.

“The variety stands out for its taste, intense aroma, very long shelf life and consistently high quality.”
Philippe Peiro, Managing Director Port International European Sourcing and Port International Fruit

Sustainability and social responsibility

Agromartín is committed to environmentally friendly and socially responsible agriculture. The company has numerous certificates, e.g. for sustainable water use and for calculating and reducing its carbon footprint, which illustrate this commitment.

Moisture and fertilizer sensors in the plots are used to precisely monitor nutrient and water content in order to use resources particularly efficiently. Several quality controllers on site ensure consistently high product quality at all times.

Agromartín also focuses on social sustainability and offers its employees a unique housing concept: a mini-city with fully equipped houses provides a pleasant working and living environment and increases the feel-good factor.

A partnership with a future

Agromartín combines tradition and innovation in a way that not only guarantees high-quality fruit, but also focuses on social responsibility and sustainable business practices. We are proud to count Agromartín among our exclusive partners, which enables us to contribute to greater planning security and stability.
