Improved results and strong rankings on EcoVadis
This is about EcoVadis, the largest sustainability assessment portal for companies. As it does every year, Port International – along with its subsidiaries Port International Bananas and Port International European Sourcing – participated in the assessment again in 2025 and earned a Silver rating for both companies.
What we are particularly proud of: Compared to the previous year, both companies improved their scores in the assessment. Port International Bananas now ranks in the 94th percentile with 78 points, placing it among the top 6% of all assessed companies. Port International European Sourcing achieved 73 points, placing it in the 88th percentile.
The world's leading sustainability rating
But let’s start from the beginning: What exactly is behind this assessment? As the world’s leading provider of sustainability ratings, EcoVadis evaluates tens of thousands of companies each year across the areas of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The analysis is based on international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN Global Compact, and ISO 26000.
Participating companies receive a detailed scorecard (0–100 points) that shows how their performance compares to industry peers. Good results are recognized with medals and badges (bronze, silver, gold, platinum), and areas for improvement are highlighted so that companies can develop targeted action plans.
Sustainability as a continuous improvement process
EcoVadis has now become a uniform international standard, used primarily by large corporations to assess the sustainability of their suppliers, and has therefore become indispensable today.
What’s behind our ratings? We work with our own sustainability team every day to continuously improve. Among other things, we’ve tightened our supplier management guidelines and expanded digital training in compliance and the AGG. And we’re not stopping there: We’re on a direct path to Gold to further strengthen our commitment to greater sustainability.
